Imagine my surprise when, upon returning home from the Catholic Marketing Network/Catholic Writers Guild conference, I receive an email from EWTN’s At Home with Jim and Joy producer. Naively, I thought he was requesting a radio interview, until I heard back from him with a “Great! We’ll get back with you about travel arrangements.”
I was being invited to go to EWTN headquarters! Super exciting.
But I had to make sure everything was taken care of at home, especially my kiddos.
Thanks to my amazing mom, who isn’t in the best shape or health, she offered to watch them so that I could fly out and do a live show with Jim and Joy Pinto.
All I can say, without making everything overly complex, is that everyone at EWTN was so gracious – from the cooks and housekeepers to the producers and show hosts. It was a joy-filled, faithful place to be, and I made sure to use my time as a mini-pilgrimage by attending daily Mass and Adoration and participating in the Divine Mercy chaplet.
Jim and Joy were gracious hosts. They made me feel at ease and were so encouraging about the topic we were discussing – grief, of course, and my book. We prayed beforehand, and we even had a priest in the audience bless our time together. It was a beautiful thing.
If you have an hour of your time to spare, this episode was very raw and authentic as I retold the miracle of Sarah’s birth and the beauty and gift of grief and redemptive suffering.
