My very first interview was on NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday, and I had no idea what a “big deal” it was to be invited on this show.  I had no platform, no books published (or even in the works), and no clue what I was doing.  It was truly God’s hand.

My sister-in-law sent me a Facebook message with a short paragraph that included contact information on “What It Means to be Catholic in 2014,” so I shrugged and decided to send my response.  I honestly didn’t think anything would come of it, but I received an email the following day, asking if I was available for a short phone interview.

After the phone interview, I was told that I was selected to be one of three participants in a round table discussion about this topic.  Because I didn’t have a smartphone or access to a radio station, I had to drive to Notre Dame, where they set everything up for the interview.  Though it lasted about thirty minutes, they only selected 7 minutes of the interview for broadcasting.

So here it is – my first shot on the radio.  Enjoy!
